GOVERNMENT REBATES

The NSW Government is offering rebates between $1,600 and $3,200. With BIES 2, you can earn an extra $250 to $400 twice over the space of 6 years. This is part of the new Battery Incentive Expansion Scheme, which includes BIES 1 and BIES 2.

Understanding BIES 1 & BIES 2

BIES 1 and BIES 2 are part of the Battery Incentive Expansion Scheme (BIES) introduced by the NSW Government under the broader Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS). These incentives aim to encourage more NSW residents to adopt solar battery technology by making installations more affordable.

  • BIES 1: Provides rebates for new solar battery installations. Eligible homeowners can receive rebates ranging from $1,600 to $2,400 based on the battery’s size and capacity. This initiative lowers the initial cost of energy storage solutions. This makes it easier to use solar energy at home.

  • BIES 2: Offers additional incentives for households connecting their solar batteries to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). By joining a VPP, homeowners can earn $250 to $400. This happens when energy from their battery is sold back to the grid during busy times. This incentive is available twice, a minimum of 3 years apart.

Both BIES 1 and BIES 2 make solar battery storage easier for more residents. They also encourage the use of renewable energy in NSW.

The PDRS scheme aims to help residents invest in solar battery storage. This special offer begins on November 1, 2024. It can lower the upfront costs of installing a solar battery system.
